Christian Christmas Music Day 1

***Until Christmas Day, I will be highlighting one song that defines Christmas for me and my family.  Hopefully, some of these songs will be an inspiration to you and your family as well.

Day 1 – Pentatonix – An updated feel and sound to a timless hit.

A Pentatonix Christmas Song – Hallelujah

[Scott:]
I’ve heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

[Avi:]
Well, your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to the kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips, she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

[Kirstie:]
Well baby I’ve been here before
I’ve seen this room and I’ve walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a vict’ry march
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

[Mitch:]
Well, maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

[All:]
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Daily Devotional – 11/30/16

If you own an iPhone, you need to have Max Lucado’s Daily Devotional podcast as it is the perfect way to start the morning.  With the podcast being only 1 min, it is short enough that you can fit it in with the hectic morning schedule and at the same time be filled with wonderful insight and encouragement from a Christian perspective on life.

In today’s devotional, Lucado focuses on “today’s problem not necessarily being tomorrow problem”.  He goes on to talk about not setting yourself up for failure.  Just because your dad was a drunk does not mean you will be one as well!  Lucado reminds us to “…stand against the wiles of the Devil” (Ephesians 6:11).  The complete verse reads as such in the bible.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Do yourself a favor, head over to the search button in your Podcast app and subscribe to Max Lucado’s Daily Devotional.  For Android or people who would like to listen on their computers your can find then here.  Itunes and Mac users can find them here.

Have a blessed morning everyone.  May God show his favor in all that you do. -PJSLB

Lauren Daigle – “How can it be” is an album that the Holy Spirit uses to inspire

(Authors note – this isn’t a review of the album from a music perspective. This is my personal experience listening to the album and what it has does for me as a Christian.)

What a beautiful voice. I am a imaginative person. I love getting into a zone where my minds just wanders and all of life’s infinite possibilities are possible. That is the way I am when I pray or reflect about Christ. I just let my imagination go. Lauren Daigle’s – How Can It Be (2015) is one album that allows me to just let my imagination run wild about Christ and all that he is and all that he will be. From the song “First” to a song that will drop you to your knees and praise God – “trust in you“, this is an album that will be on repeat at my office for the foreseeable future.

In May, my daughter who was 9 at the time experienced a life changing event.  I know that sounds weird to hear for a 9 year old, BUT we all remember our first encounter with Christ. In the midst of all the sorry, tears, and confusion in that very moment; the song Trust In You started playing.  I took her in my arms and prayed as she was crying.  Her tears were gone soon enough and in time the memory of that event is one of the song and how it got her thru something that was a very big deal for her.  Thank You @Lauren_Daigle for this song!

The last track on the album “Once and for All” is a song that strips everything that keeps us away from Christ. For any Christian, the lyrics is one that will give you goose bumps and tears.

God I give You all I can today
These scattered ashes that I hid away
I lay them all at Your feet
From the corners of my deepest shame
The empty places where I’ve worn Your name
Show me the love I say I believe
Oh Help me to lay it down
Oh Lord I lay it down
Oh let this be where I die
My lord with thee crucified
Be lifted high as my Kingdom’s fall
Once and for all, once and for all
There is victory in my Saviors loss
And In the crimson flowing from the cross
Pour over me, pour over me yes
Oh let this be where I die
My lord with thee crucified
Be lifted high as my Kingdom’s fall
Once and

The lonesome piano playing in “Once and for All” along with the somber lyrics makes How Can It Be an album that is perfect for your time of reflection with Christ.
The album has been out for awhile but i am sure that any Christian would be thrilled to receive this on this holiday season.    You can find out more on Lauren on her website. Have a good one folks…God Bless

2016 Love Riot Tour – Newsboys (The Afters)

I have been blessed to be a part of some really great concerts. From Jay-Z to Kanye West in the hip-hop world to Alicia Keys and Taylor Swift in the pop world. I have also experienced the Holy Spirit move in Christian Concerts. There has always been one Christian concert that has always been above and beyond any and that was by Superchick. I absolutely loved that group and i can vividly remember feeling the Holy Spirit moving in me that day. I never thought i would be fortunate to feel that way again…then i was blessed again to be part of the group that was in the Macon Collesium for the Newsboys 2016 – Love Riot Tour.

The Afters – Act THREE

I am all about lyrics.  I believe that lyrics make the song and not the beat.  Live and Forever by The Afters brings substance lyrically and musically.  It all start with the song Shadows.  With lyrics like “Wake up the statues, Breathe out the dust, Shock of a heartbeat, Rush of the blood, Breaking into my skin, Feel the burning again, I can’t escape it, Its time to rise up from the shadows”  this is a song / album that will get any Christian hyped.  Battles is the song that everyone knows and that is not bad.  Anytime a song says that God “is fighting my battles” is always a good thing.  Want a song that will just get you up and ready for the day…listen to Time of my Life.  Their set during the 2016 Love Riot tour was all about that bass and boom with drums and drums galore.  Everyone was hitting a drum and trust me you can feel it in the arena.  It was a sight to behold.  One of the drums was hit so hard it actually fell on the floor (It was red and yes i saw it…lol) but the group continued without missing a beat. The families favorite part of the whole set was the performance of Live on Forever.  If you have never heard of it (which would completely shock me), you need to listen to it right now.

On a side note, this guys are probably the coolest group of artist you will meet.  The patience to take all those pictures and to take time to talk to everyone is amazing and a blessing.  Keep up the good work guys in spreading the word of God thru music.

Follow them on Twitter @theafters ….we need to support groups like this.
