RIP to the Bad Boy rapper who later joined the Christian Ministry

They say your college days will be filled with some of your best memories. I am fortunate to say that sentence applies to myself. The whole Bad Boy Family movement was the soundtrack to my life and if the Bad Boy catalogue was my album then Craig Mack’s Flava In Ya Ear was the song they played with the beginning credits.

From the countless days rollin in the 96 Toyota Celica with my roommate Vinnie, while we got lost in upstate New York to dorm parties with my future wife Jhen; the sounds of the Coca Cola bottles forever ringing.

Soon after all the success in Hip Hop, Craig was suddenly nowhere to be seen. He later popped up in South Carolina as a man of God. You can read more about his story here.

Thank you Puffy for the sounds of our college days and #RIP to the first one out of the gate for Bad Boy… #CraigMack

The song that is getting me thru doubts in life

I pray this song will be a blessing for you as well. I know that someone out there needs this song and lyrics right now. God bless you all. PJSLB

Hillsong United Lyrics

“Touch The Sky”

What fortune lies beyond the stars

Those dazzling heights too vast to climb

I got so high to fall so far

But I found heaven as love swept low

My heart beating, my soul breathing

I found my life when I laid it down

Upward falling, spirit soaring

I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground

What treasure waits within Your scars

This gift of freedom gold can’t buy

I bought the world and sold my heart

You traded heaven to have me again

My heart beating, my soul breathing

I found my life when I laid it down

Upward falling, spirit soaring

I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground

Find me here at Your feet again

Everything I am, reaching out, I surrender

Come sweep me up in Your love again

And my soul will dance

On the wings of forever

Find me here at Your feet again

Everything I am, reaching out, I surrender

Come sweep me up in Your love again

And my soul will dance

On the wings of forever

My heart beating, my soul breathing

I found my life when I laid it down

Upward falling, spirit soaring

I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground

My heart beating, my soul breathing

I found my life when I laid it down

Upward falling, spirit soaring

I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground

Find me here at Your feet again

Everything I am, reaching out I surrender

Come sweep me up in Your love again

And my soul will dance

On the wings of forever

Upward falling, spirit soaring

I touch the sky

When my knees hit the ground

Christian Christmas Music Day 10 – Taylor Swift

***Until Christmas Day, I will be highlighting one song that defines Christmas for me and my family. Hopefully, some of these songs will be an inspiration to you and your family as well.

Day 10 – Taylor Swift – A country start that became the Pop icon

The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection Song – Silent Night

My family loves Taylor Swift.  Let me start by saying that we were Taylor Swift fans before Taylor Swift was Taylor Swift.  We have been fans since her country days and to be honest, there are times when we still listen to the “old songs” because Ms. Taylors voice and a guitar was just pure magic.  The same can be said with Taylor’s version of Silent Night.  It is such a change of pace (in a good way) to your traditional version of the song.  It was a song that we would listen to when we would be missing Georgia.

In 2014, my daughter and I had the chance of a lifetime to not only spend a night with Taylor Swift but also do so at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.  My daughter had an absolute blast! This concert had a huge impact on my daughter.  Even now at the age of 10, my daughter still wears Keds, writes poems, short stories, and has journals because “…thats what Taylor use to do”.  Since the concert she also started joining the school choir and has participated in plays.  Never would have imagined that a concert would have such an impact on a 8 year old.  Taylor Swift’s  1989 album is my families soundtrack during our adventures in the Pacific and Asia for the last two years.  Believe me, Shake it off and Blank Space has been blasted in the Philippines, Japan, and Guam plenty of times! -PJSLB

Christian Christmas Music Day 8 – Whitney Houston

***Until Christmas Day, I will be highlighting one song that defines Christmas for me and my family. Hopefully, some of these songs will be an inspiration to you and your family as well.

Day 8 – Whitney Houston – Sung the best version of the US National Anthem

One Wish The Holiday Album Song – O come O come, Emmanuel

Growing up, there was a voice that no matter was the topic of her song, always had me just stay still and listen.  There was her song for the movie The Bodyguard, I Ihave Nothing that has parts in it where you really doubt that it is a human being singing because there is no way a human can hit those notes with such command and ease.  Mrs. Houston had me standing still again during the beginning Super Bowl XXV (my Giants won!) when just days after the US entered the war, she sang what is to this day the standard of what the US National Anthem should sound like.

Whitney’s struggles while on earth is well document BUT also is her love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  When people ask me how can someone like Whitney say they love the Lord and particiapte in such aweful things, my answer is always the same:

Our Lord is comfort to those who seek him.  We are all lost and broken and it is thru Jesus that we are redeemed.  Our salvation is something that no person on this earth can take away for it is a gift from God.  A gift we received when we accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior who died for our sins.

Merry Christmas to all!  =)  -PJSLB
