Christian Christmas Music Day 6

***Until Christmas Day, I will be highlighting one song that defines Christmas for me and my family. Hopefully, some of these songs will be an inspiration to you and your family as well.

Day 6 – Frank Sinatra – The voice of New York.

Christmas Songs by Sinatra  Song – O little town of Bethlehem

Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting light
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above
While mortals sleep the angels keep their watch of wondering love
Oh morning stars together, proclaim thy holy birth.
And praises sing to God the king, and peace to men on earth.

Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting light
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

Frank Sinatra is my vision of class and sophistication.  Maybe its’s because i am a Yankees fan, but when i hear sinatra’s house, i think of winning and happiness.  =)

Today i was stressing the week and then i realized that i get to look forward to stories of our Saviors birth and life!  =)  -PJSLB

Northside Christian Church Children’s Christmas Play

Visited our old church to watch my nephews in their Christmas play on the birth of Jesus. It was funny and the kids did a great job.

Nightly Prayer -12/07/16

Lord, as I sit in between my two daughters as they sleep peacefully this night, I pray lord for their health. I pray lord for wonderful experiences that will strengthen their faith and trust in you. I pray that they will remember you in time when the road is not so straight. I pray for K as she will be in the schools Nativity play. I pray for N as she is getting better and catching up on school work. I pray for J as you walk with her on college. I pray for my wife and thank you for the rock she is in my life.

I pray lord for all those who are looking for you. I pray for an experience they will never forget. I pray for family, friends, and readers that are suffer lord. Whatever that suffering is, please help them.

Finally, I pray for myself. I pray for knowledge and compassion. I pray to never boast. I pray to be a mirror of your love.

In Jesus Name, Amen

I just placed church and shopping on this same level

For me, Christmas always comes in stages.  The first stage begins on the Friday after Thanksgiving (black Friday).  In years past, my wife and I would line up at some store we wanted to get a good deal at usually a Best Buy or even a Barnes and Noble.  The beauty about the internet is the shopping that can happen online (i’m talking about you Amazon). This year about 75 percent of our Christmas gifts have been bought online.

The second stage of Christmas is the next two weeks.  In this time we start getting our Christmas cards together, continue buying gifts and decorate the house.  It is always in this time that there is a “surprise” gifts that we end up getting because we know it is something our kids will love and cherish.  That gift this year was a miniature doxie.  Being that my kids are young, they won’t be reading this post for another five years so i dont mind saying that here.

This morning I woke up with my nose clogged up, throat scratchy, and coughing.  I said to my wife that if it wasn’t for Church today and Christmas shopping, i would be in bed today. Thinking about that sentence made me realize my priorities are not in order.  How did I end up putting shopping and church in the same level of importance?

A few days ago I wrote about Why I love Christmas.  I wrote about this time being an opportunity to share about our love for Christ.  Writing that and saying what i did made me realize my priorities and outlook was getting distorted.  I need to get back on track.  It’s not about the gifts, the decoration, or even finding that “special” gift.  Have you ever got your priorities as mixed up as i did?  Reality is that our special gifts has already been given.  Our Lord and Savior giving himself to the cross so that we may have ever lasting life.  That my friends should be the only gift we need.  Have a good beautiful Sunday everyone -PJSLB

Matthew 6:19-21 – Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
