Christian Christmas Music Day 3

***Until Christmas Day, I will be highlighting one song that defines Christmas for me and my family. Hopefully, some of these songs will be an inspiration to you and your family as well.

Day 3 – Celine Dion – THE VOICE of my generation.

These Are Special Times  Song – O Holy Night

No one sings like Celine Dion.  NO ONE!  Not just this track but this album is a must own. Just look at the 5 million plus copies it has already sold.  I may not know anything about you and where your from and what your circumstances are BUT i do know what will give a Christian goosebumps and this song is that.  Fast forward 3:15 into the song to hear Ms. Dion belt out Christ is the Lord; Then ever ever praise we…noel will be the most beautiful sung line you will hear this WHOLE Christmas season.

The season of telling our Lord’s story is in full swing! -PJSLB

Christian Christmas Music Day 2

***Until Christmas Day, I will be highlighting one song that defines Christmas for me and my family. Hopefully, some of these songs will be an inspiration to you and your family as well.

Day 2 – Kelly Clarkson – My favorite American Idol with the queens of country.

Wrapped in Red  Song – Silent Night  ft. Trisha Yearwood and Reba McEntire

I love Kelly Clarkson.  From American Idol to the 2000s anthem Since you’ve been gone, Kelly has been one of those personalities that just lets her singing to all the talking.  Silent Night is one of those songs that ANYONE can sing and make you feel sentimental.  What makes Kelly’s version different is that her version has a very jubilant feel.  I guess it has to do with the country feel that Trisha and Ms. McEntire bring.

Enjoy! -PJSLB

Day 1 – Pentatonix – Hallelujah

Christian Christmas Music Day 1

***Until Christmas Day, I will be highlighting one song that defines Christmas for me and my family.  Hopefully, some of these songs will be an inspiration to you and your family as well.

Day 1 – Pentatonix – An updated feel and sound to a timless hit.

A Pentatonix Christmas Song – Hallelujah

[Scott:]
I’ve heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

[Avi:]
Well, your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to the kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips, she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

[Kirstie:]
Well baby I’ve been here before
I’ve seen this room and I’ve walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a vict’ry march
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

[Mitch:]
Well, maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

[All:]
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I just placed church and shopping on this same level

For me, Christmas always comes in stages.  The first stage begins on the Friday after Thanksgiving (black Friday).  In years past, my wife and I would line up at some store we wanted to get a good deal at usually a Best Buy or even a Barnes and Noble.  The beauty about the internet is the shopping that can happen online (i’m talking about you Amazon). This year about 75 percent of our Christmas gifts have been bought online.

The second stage of Christmas is the next two weeks.  In this time we start getting our Christmas cards together, continue buying gifts and decorate the house.  It is always in this time that there is a “surprise” gifts that we end up getting because we know it is something our kids will love and cherish.  That gift this year was a miniature doxie.  Being that my kids are young, they won’t be reading this post for another five years so i dont mind saying that here.

This morning I woke up with my nose clogged up, throat scratchy, and coughing.  I said to my wife that if it wasn’t for Church today and Christmas shopping, i would be in bed today. Thinking about that sentence made me realize my priorities are not in order.  How did I end up putting shopping and church in the same level of importance?

A few days ago I wrote about Why I love Christmas.  I wrote about this time being an opportunity to share about our love for Christ.  Writing that and saying what i did made me realize my priorities and outlook was getting distorted.  I need to get back on track.  It’s not about the gifts, the decoration, or even finding that “special” gift.  Have you ever got your priorities as mixed up as i did?  Reality is that our special gifts has already been given.  Our Lord and Savior giving himself to the cross so that we may have ever lasting life.  That my friends should be the only gift we need.  Have a good beautiful Sunday everyone -PJSLB

Matthew 6:19-21 – Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
