Christmas without loved ones.

I have always been blessed and fortunate to be around family on Christmas.  The family tradition is to stay up till midnight, open gifts and eat (again) and go to bed around 3 am.  As a kid, Christmas was always about what is under the Christmas tree.  As i get older Christmas is becoming more about who is around the Christmas tree with me (or at least who is on facetime on my ipad).

The Christmas season of 2013 and 2014 were joyous because of all the family that was around us.  Guam and the Philippines were experiences we will never forget.  This year, things are a little quiet.  Family that i did have around me have all went to their in-laws for the holiday and from the looks of it, Christmas and New Years will be spent with just the wife and kids

This holiday season will be a great time to start a new tradition.  If you have any family traditions you would love to share, please feel free.  Regardless who is around this holiday season, the only thing that matters is that my Lord and Savior reigns above all.  Anytime the world is open to hearing his life, death, resurrection and future return is always a good thing in my eyes.

On a side note, I will be having limited computer access during the holidays, so most if not all posts until the New Years will be thru mobile.  Also, I will have limited access to email so will not be able to respond to prayer request until then.  Have a greet week and hope you got your Christmas shopping taken care off!  -PJSLB

A Christmas good morning

Its 8 o’clock in the morning and 41 degrees.  Its cloudy, windy and “…beginning to feel a lot like Christmas“.  I should be home, i should be underneath the sheets all nice and warm.

I am instead on a field where the wind blows just a little bit harder, the sweater doesn’t help as much and I am watching my 7 year old play soccer… I WOULD NOT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY.

I thank you lord for being able to spend this time with my daughter.  I thank you lord for giving my daughter the spirit to try something new.  I thank you for this Christmas season.  In Jesus name, Amen – PJSLB

Lord, I am lost and I am alright with that

Tonight, I watched my 10 year old cheer two basketball games. While that was happening my 7 year old had soccer practice. In between the two events, I had a parent stop me and say thank you for coaching her kids and that they really love having me. As I was standing there watching the end of the second game, I started to think…How did I end up here? Did I really leave Guam and all of that to be at a Prep school. Soon after I look and notice my 7 year old now in the athletic complex talking to her sister and the other cheerleaders. She then goes down and hangs out with the 8th graders. In that moment, I realize that yes I am here and yes I get to see my girls everyday and yes I am making a difference in the lives of the next generation of Christians. I didn’t expect to be here BUT I’m glad that I am. Have a good night. God bless you all -PJSLB

Nightly Prayer -12/07/16

Lord, as I sit in between my two daughters as they sleep peacefully this night, I pray lord for their health. I pray lord for wonderful experiences that will strengthen their faith and trust in you. I pray that they will remember you in time when the road is not so straight. I pray for K as she will be in the schools Nativity play. I pray for N as she is getting better and catching up on school work. I pray for J as you walk with her on college. I pray for my wife and thank you for the rock she is in my life.

I pray lord for all those who are looking for you. I pray for an experience they will never forget. I pray for family, friends, and readers that are suffer lord. Whatever that suffering is, please help them.

Finally, I pray for myself. I pray for knowledge and compassion. I pray to never boast. I pray to be a mirror of your love.

In Jesus Name, Amen
