As I walk this great unknown
Questions come and questions go
Was there purpose for the pain?
Did I cry these tears in vain?I don’t want to live in fear
I want to trust that You are near
Trust Your grace can be seen
In both triumph and tragedyI have this hope
In the depth of my soul
In the flood or the fire
You’re with me and You won’t let go
But sometimes my faith feels thin
Like the night will never end
Will You catch every tear
Or will You just leave me here?
But I have this hope
In the depth of my soul
In the flood or the fire
You’re with me and You won’t let go [x2]
So, whatever happens I will not be afraid
Cause You are closer than this breath that I take
You calm the storm when I hear You call my name
I still believe that one day I’ll see Your face
And I have this hope
In the depth of my soul
In the flood or the fire
You’re with me
I have this hope
In the depth of my soul
In the flood or the fire
You’re with me and You won’t let go
In the flood or the fire
You’re with me and You won’t let go [x2]
I love words. I love how words can bring out emotions that just would not come up from a visual perspective. Words allow you to use your emotions and imaginations. From the days of my parents reading to me a bedtime story, to the days of reading my favorite author – Sidney Sheldon, words always captivated me. Naturally, the words of the Bible is the biggest inspiration to me. Just before the holiday season, I came across the voice of Natalie Grant while listening to K-Love. King of the World is one of those songs that just connects you to God. The instruments in the background is soft and reflective…but its the lyrics and content of the song that got to me.
I tried to fit you in the walls inside my mind I try to keep you safely in between the lines I try to put you in the box that I’ve designed I try to pull you down so we are eye to eye
When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world? I try to take life back right out of the hands of the king of the world How could I make you so small When you’re the one who holds it all When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world
Just a whisper of your voice can tame the seas So who am I to try to take the lead Still I run ahead and think I’m strong enough When you’re the one who made me from the dust
When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world? I try to take life back right out of the hands of the king of the world How could I make you so small When you’re the one who holds it all When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world
Oh, you set it all in motion Every single moment You brought it all to me And you’re holding on to me
When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world? I try to take life back right out of the hands of the king of the world How could I make you so small When you’re the one who holds it all When did I forget you’ve always been the king of the world You will always be the king of the world
Just reading those lyrics give me chills. In life, we try to make moves in our life to better our current situation and sometimes that leads us into thinking we know better than God; i am not innocent in that as well. I think i know better and i try to “make moves” when in reality my “moves” are just making my blessings take a little longer. King of the World is a reminder that God is indeed the Alpha and Omega and in no way can i do ANYTHING without him
I could not find an official version of the original song but this acoustic version will give you just as much chills.
