Daily Devotional – Why I love Christmas

I love Christmas. Christmas is a time with family and friends, crowded malls, shopping, egg nog, Christmas plays, exchanging gifts, more crowded malls, more shopping, etc.  It can drive you completely crazy but thats okay!

This morning, Max Lucado reminded me why i love this time of year.  Its the time of year where everyone and i mean EVERYONE asks, thinks, talks, reflects on Jesus.  Even non believers will be seeing displays of the manger or the three kings following the star.  The birth of Jesus, so humble so peaceful is a story thats being told every min of this month and as a Christian, I am aware that this is an opportunity to share Christ.

Do you know someone who loves this time of year and is not a Christian? If so, pray that the Holy Spirit move you in sharing what this time of year really means to them.  As followers of Christ, it is our duty to share the word of Christ to all.  This time of year just makes it that much easier.

Lets the season of sharing the Word of God begin!  Have a good morning – PJSLB

This is  conversation my wife and i will be having very soon!

I feel you in the room today…

This is what I am feeling at the moment.  It’s a feeling and a presence that can overwhelm.  The quote today from Joyce Meyer’s really fits today.  I feel the Holy Spirit talking to me right now tell me that “all will be alright…”

I pray that you have experienced something like this as well…

My Prayer: I am having a very strong feeling right now. I feel your presence and I acknowledge that you are in the room with me right now. My heart is beating fast, I cannot get you out of my mind. I have a busy day and I am thinking of the many tasks that have to be down today. But, in this moment…this second…I feel you and it’s an overwhelming feeling. I wonder what will come from this day…

Being Prompted by the Holy Spirit

“I am speaking the truth in Christ. I am not lying; my conscience [enlightened and prompted] by the Holy Spirit bearing witness with me.(ROMANS 9:1)”

Have you ever “heard” the Holy Spirit talking to you?  It doesn’t have to be anything drastic or big.  It could be something as simple as the Holy Spirit telling you to say hello to a certain person.

Not to long ago, I was up late at night watching the West Wing on Netflix.  It was well past midnight and I was just trying to fall asleep.  As I was about to sleep, I had the sudden urge to text someone that I have not spoken to in almost a year.  I paid no attention to this feeling and continued watching my show.  The urge to text was still there after an hour but by now it was something that was on the forefront of my mind.  I got my phone and shot a quick text saying hi and how’s the family.  I soon got a reply and we started texting back and forth for a couple of mins just small talk.  I thought this was weird and since nothing came from it, I immediately brushed it aside as my imagination running wild.
A month later, I got a text from the person I have not talked to in about a year.  He was telling me about his daughter and some procedures that she has to go thru.  He asked for prayers for his daughter, his family, and himself.  Naturally, we prayed together and in the name of Jesus, I lifted his family up in my prayers and we talked about trust God.  They are going thru life day to day but he is thankful for having someone who was able to pray with him at the very second he needed it.

Putting everything together, I realized that if I didn’t listen to the Holy Spirit urging me to say hi, I would of missed an opportunity to really affect change in another persons life.  A simple hi that made no sense at the time lead to a prayer request that placed a family in a peace that only the Lord can bring.

What about you?  Have you been listening to the Holy Spirit telling you to do the little things?  Maybe the urge is to pick up that piece or trash. It could be something along the lines of being courteous and opening the door for someone at a department store.  Ever hear something deep down telling you to “talk to that person”.  You may want to listen to that voice.  There is no telling where the Lord may take you.  That’s the beauty and excitement of living as a Christian.

When The Holy Spirit Talks To You.
