Who really upsets religious people

I have a feeling i am going to hurt some feelings with this one.  From watchig the news this morning to reading my timeline on various social media sites, it just seems that we all need a hufe dose of LOVE.  As Christians, our job is not to judge or comdemn…our job is to LOVE.

Matthew 22:36-40 New International Version (NIV)

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

It is my job to LOVE…uncondition love.  If that makes other feel uncomfortable and mad; I am sorry.   PJSLB

Update those you ask prayers and petitions from

Too often, when life gets hard for a Christian, we ask for prayers, talk with friends and family about our problems, and even write about it.  We always get the beginning of the story but we rarely hear bout the next chapter.  When the situation we were stressing has been resolved, we rarely inform the people who prayed for us the outcome.  In doing so, the person praying for you is just left wondering.

If you ask someone to pray for you, please update them on what has been happening.  When a person prays for you, they sincerely care and are now vested in the situation as well.  Have a great week.  PJSLB

A Sunday doing absolutely nothing

A Sunday of doing absolutely nothing. That is what I have going on right now. Today, the family went to see Aladdin and although that sounded tempting, i just couldn’t. I am a purist and not way can that compare to the original…even if that original is a cartoon

So now I find myself at the local Starbucks sipping on my Ice Green Tea just watching the world turn. It’s amazing how much of the world you can learn about being at a Starbucks. From kids (and quite a few adults) working to their school stuff to the couple sitting outside talking about what could be some serious subject…life just continues.

I always thought it was silly to see people just sit here drying their coffee or tea and just kill time. It’s really not so silly now that i have to be here for the next two hours.

Salvation Army National Donut Day

Came across something interesting as i was searching the web yesteryday.  Did you know that tomorrow (June 7) is NATIONAL DONUT DAY  here in the United States.  Also, a fun fact is that the Salvation Army started National Donut Day.  Here is some info on the history:

The Story of National Donut Day

Beginning in 1917, approximately 250 Salvation Army volunteers provided assistance during World War I to American soldiers in battle on the front lines in France. Two female Salvation Army officers, Ensign Margaret Sheldon, and Adjutant Helen Purviance had an idea to comfort our soldiers with good home cooking, using their limited ingredients to fry up in helmets delicious doughnuts for the boys.

Nicknamed “Doughnut Lassies” and “Doughnut Girls”, these women served countless treats to grateful soldiers, traversing through the trenches to bring the men doughnuts and coffee. They also made history by introducing this tasty new treat to the United States when the “Doughboys” returned from war.

The Salvation Army celebrated the first National Doughnut Day in 1938 in the city of Chicago as a way to honor Salvation Army “doughnut lassies” from World War I. They began the holiday as a way to raise funds and bring awareness to the Army’s social service programs during the Great Depression. The donut has become synonymous with The Salvation Army’s social services and continues to be a comfort food served by The Salvation Army to those in need during times of disaster.

The celebration of this holiday still continues to be celebrated 78 years later to help raise awareness for The Salvation Army and to honor the service of our valued veterans and volunteers alike.
